Is KJ Apa the alter ego Mr Fantasy on TikTok?
Fans have been digging for clues to find out if the Kiwi actor is behind an alter ego singer sporting a wig and funky outfits.
Kiwi actor KJ Apa has social media buzzing after a person resembling him posted a funky music video under the pseudonym Mr Fantasy.
The mystery performer, sporting a black bob hairdo and colourful outfits, debuted a self-titled song with disco vibes on the video sharing platform TikTok as well as Spotify and Apple Music.
He has only posted 14 videos over the past month on TikTok but already racked up more than 300,000 followers and garnered comments from Apa’s Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart and singer Joe Jonas.
KJ Apa is well known for his roles in Riverdale and Shortland Street.

His videos show him out and about in Los Angelos, a “tour” of the room he’s renting with a flatmate he calls Blaine and making an “inspirational” speech near the Hollywood sign.
Although his identity has not been confirmed, social media sleuths pointed to Apa because of the uncanny resemblance and matching tattoos. Mr Fantasy also has a gap-toothed smile, but netizens believe it’s probably a set of fake teeth.
The 28-year-old actor – who is well known for his roles on Shortland Street and Riverdale – is known to have posted lip-sync and dance cover videos on TikTok under the alias ‘fifiisqueen’ during his Riverdale filming days. Albeit he did that without a disguise.
Apa is a singer himself and released the album Clocks in 2021.
Going for a different style though, Mr Fantasy describes his music as “my smile, my long wet tongue, my thrusting hips”.
“My vibrations cause the cracks in my teeth, the tears in my eyes, the blisters in my feet,” his Spotify bio reads.
“Welcome to my world, another dimension, where dreams are gripped like cold Guinness. Where shapes are made from love kisses. Leave your troubles behind and give your fears to me. I can be your Mr. Fantasy. Now… where were we?”
Apa’s most recent project is romance flick The Map That Leads to You on Prime Video opposite Madelyn Cline.
