Patti LaBelle is coming to New Zealand
The 81-year-old soul singer has clocked a six-decade career, entering the music business at 14 years old.
Soul legend Patti LaBelle will visit New Zealand and Australia early next year.
The 8065 Celebration Tour promises to showcase songs from across LaBelle's 65 years in music including tracks from her early days with The Bluebelles to solo hits like Lady Marmalade, On My Own and If Only You Knew.
LaBelle will perform at The Civic in Auckland on January 30, following a string of shows across Australia.
LaBelle celebrated her 81st birthday in May this year with a concert at New York’s Barclays Center, featuring Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and Stephanie Mills as part of the Queens Tour, the Independent reported.
Speaking to the crowd early in the evening LaBelle said: “Let me say something. I have so many people who are afraid to say how young they are.
“Don’t be scared. 81 is wonderful, okay? Happy birthday.”
Tickets go on sale Tuesday 28 October.
